Posting build progress of the Speedster. Best birthday gift I've had in years!
Calling it "BMXK" = BMXKlunk. To do list includes new paint, badge, kick and
tab removal, build wheels (freewheel), make rear side-pull brake
mount, and fun .. lots of fun
What's been done: Complete breakdown, all tubes cleaned and frame-saved,
bottom bracket overhaul/repack, new cockpit. The chrome on the cranks is gone,
so I hit them with steel-wool and clear-coated to use for now.
The second I got her (note scattered tools working on another bike).
Date stamp - Chicago 04/20/1960
As she sits today. Wheels from donor bike, Odyssey Pedals, Moto X bars, stem,
fork, vans grips (today), and gumwalls.
Parts on order: Seatpost, cranks (euro), chainring, and chain
With grips and the saddle I'm using. The seatpost is a crusty dog (replacing)
Wrights saddle I've been saving. Laced it up a couple years ago
