1969 raleigh with wierd add on

Hey guys i dont know if im posting this right or in the right forum but i found a 69 raleigh today i dont usually collect or restore british bikes but i need parts for my western flyer i convorted to 3 speed and the guy i got it from said it was 20$ you cant pass that up, i dont have pictures of the bike but its like all british 3 speeds but theres a wierd part on it that me and the old man i got it from dont know about can you guys tell me?

Just a guess, but its a plate for an arm or stick shifter? I see two stops, and places to mount an arm..

That makes since maybe someone was going to move the strummy archer stock shifter and put it to a stick?

Just aired up the tires and sprayed wd 40 in the rear hub and took it for a spin, amazing this old guy is still rollin and shifting strong! I cant tear it apart now but needs to be ratted has anyone ratted a stock british 3 speed before?

Oh thats cool whats that off of? You think mines just flipped? Its odd though because the normal thumb shifter is hooked up..

It could also be a bracket for some type of child seat.

That almost looks like some kind of hanging plate. Could the bike, perhaps, be suspended from one of those holes? Check to see if it balances at either point.

Oh, those top tube child seats. Good for protecting the family jewels in a crash. Crush the kid against the handlebar stem instead of you.
