1978 Schwinn

Got this Schwinn off Craigslilst for free. The guy said he picked it out of his neighbors trash and he didn't want to see it end up in the dump.
Serial number shows it to be from 1978. I believe it's a Collegiate.

I think that would be a Sprint. Varsity had the name on the top tube, and the others had the freewheeling cranks that year, or had a regular chain guard.

It's a camelback...that leaves Varsity, Collegiate or Speedster. Varsity is the only 10spd...and the only one with 27" wheels.

It's definitely a camelback, 10 speed and has 27" wheels.

Agreed! Sprint didn't come in the 17" camelback size. Only Varsity didn't have a hockey stick chain guard. They didn't have the Varsity name on the top tube. I found a pic of a 78 Varsity deluxe model.
