I posted this over on the vintage bmx forum but that forum doesn't seem to get much traffic so I thought I'd try over here. I grew up in the 80's, would have killed for something like this. It was advertised as a "Hot Streak" but appears to be a Viper. I haven't seen another Viper set up quite like this so it appears to be a bit custom as well. It's a fun bike to ride, I'm typically a muscle bike guy but could easily be persuaded to the bmx/freestyle world of the 80's. Any info on this bike regarding aftermarket parts etc would be appreciated.
A couple of months ago, I saw this bike on the Facebook Marketplace but at the time, I didn't really have the cash nor the space for another bike. It seemed like a fair price but again, the circumstances didn't allow it. Fast forward, last week I sold a few bikes and like a typical bike guy, I started the hunt. I stumbled back on this bike and assumed it had surely been sold but checked with the owner anyway. To my surprise, it was still available, I shot him an offer, and ran down and got it this morning. It was advertised as a Hot Streak but i guess it's a Viper? I grew up in the 80's and would have loved to own something like this back in the day. Its a great survivor and is very clean. I'm not sure what is original and what is aftermarket but I'm sure you guys can tell me. May swap out the green tires for the original white but then again, I may not. It rides great, just needs some detailing. I think this one is a keeper, it looks great with my Montgomery Wards special in hot pink[emoji106] .
