1sidedwheels coaster chopper

its been a little while, but new work place is re-installed and did a quick 1 week build to celebrate.

like the tittle said , its a chopper with single sided wheels , the rear one being a coaster brake hub , front one converted to sealed bearings
its got 1/2'' hardned seel axles front and rear that came from hydrolic dampers off of a elliptical exerciser machine.

here is how i did it

and the front hub mod

flanges were removed , flipped , turned on the wood lathe to remove a few .001'' to fit the bearings ,and welded back together

axle also needed to be lather a few .001'' for the metric bearings i already had , it created a tinny shoulder that help with assembly

The vision for the frame and fisrt steps , used a road bike frame as base , extended top tube , joined a seat tube with a curved women frame part , used a 1/8''heavy duty tubing front to back for the single stay

somthing a little bit new , i had to find a way to have chain tension adjustment ,so i cam up with this , and gives me 1/2'' adjustment and is very stiff when tighten , it flex the downtube (no pivot)

rear wheel axle is held by a clamp type mount ,also with a axle tention nut , and a set screw to prevent rotation

i then flipped the BB with bolts cause i needed more ground clearance , it also ended up looking better
made the fork

and next day was paint ! ,
while it was drying i treated the old leather on the seat and cleaned some of the bolts and parts.
found some old space shuttle grips , got my worn out slick 3'' tire and bought a front skinny tire .

iam still waiting for a cheap crank i ordered but apart from that its pretty much done and feels strong free rolling (to be tested with chain on)

thanks , ye chalk finish they call it

it was a confy ride for 5 min
untill i ate it !
cause the front fork broke on me just under the weld to the steerer tube
now idk what iam doing with this , iam scared of it now .

might try a other shot but will have to reinforce many things to gain back confidence to ride it
i wasent going fast so iam sort of alright

It looks like you could do the fork in one piece...no weld, no break?

If not doable as one piece...maybe temper/stress relieve the weld, and the area around it.

yes indeed it would be better 1 peice , but thing is i have no bender ... ill weld it back with rienforcement inside , probably reinforce the rear as well , i dont wana die !

isnt it about time u make a bender? and i'm gonna be honest. the pics after paint looked so good i thought it was just a 3d model.. Great build.
