Rat Rod
Owner & Founder
Kind of a funny story.
My friend John who has all of the site T-shirts printed for me usually keeps a sample shirt with each order. He's been known to wear one of the RRB shirts on occasion when he's out and about. Recently he lead a mission trip down to Guatemala with a group of church members from the church I work at. On the way back they were waiting around at the airport and one of the members (Michael) asked him what RRB was on his shirt. John filled him in on the site and the guy said....hey, I've got a couple of old bikes that were in my Mom's attic that were my older Brother and Sister's bikes...think he'd be interested in them?
One thing lead to another and I ended up at Michael's house today at lunch to check out the bikes. We talked bikes for a little while in his garage and before nearly passing out due to the 102F temps today, Michael ended up giving me the two bikes to do whatever I wanted to with. Talk about about a cool guy!
So...without further adieu...
The first is a 1960 26" Schwinn Deluxe Tornado complete with wide ape hangers and an weathered Texas A&M decal on the back fender. It had a tank, truss rods and a headlight at one time, but those made there way into the dump at some point. It's like finding a real hot rod from the 60s that was left in a barn.
Next one is a 1965 24" Schwinn Fiesta. He said that the horn did work recently and probably needs new batteries.
Not the prettiest or most valuable Schwinns I've ever owned, but it's hard to beat free!
