1st ...
1941 Westfield Columbia (needs a replacement rear fender, the black one has to go).
Missing the (a rectangle) headbadge.
Which Mr. Columbia is trying to see if he has a good fit with the right "footprint" patina on the headtube.
Of course, it needs a lot of work but, I like a challenge.

JC Higgins. ..haven't deciphered the serial yet but 50s is my guess.
Again another challenge to make this one pop.

Been repainted with this awful beige.

How did I run out of room so fast?

It looks like the original owner liked the mismatched fenders as well...so you're not alone clark.
I prefer all complete matches....and I'm not sorry..[emoji56]

I just got out of bed, everything looks better when I just get up in the morning! I'm sure that when the fenders match up it will just rock.
That's the hopes alistair...and good morning[emoji15]

Getting close to the end of one of these projects...the Westfield.
Been rubb-a-dubbing the frame, tank and chainguard in search of what's left of the original paint. Just needs a coat of wax now.
Added the replacement fenders that closely match the original red / maroon paint and need some exposure to catch up to the years of tarnished patina'd OG paint now. Doubt I'll achieve that but, it's rewarding seeing what I have right now.

Still a few more things to do on this one before it's road ready...but, I'm pleased so far.

What did you put on the bike to give it that look it looks clean did I here you say wax I would like to know thanks.

model-a,chris
Started with a WD40 and 0000 steelwool rub down to breakdown all the grime and years of accumulated film on the bike.
Then tried rubbing compound (used Turley Wax paste), but was having some stubborn areas. So then went to a commercial grade 3M Rubbing compound. Lots on heavy pressure hand rubbing.
Then hand buffed as best as I could with a soft rag.
It still needs some light polishing compounding and then a wax to preserve.
So, at this point there has been no wax applied yet.

I really appreciate the kudos everyone.
It's very satisfying to see what we can find under all that age.
Some don't like removing it and I guess I'm one of those....on some project's. But if I can find OG paint I'm gonna work for it.
Again thanks for the appreciative comments.

Finally all done. I do need to replace the tires, as these are a set of Schwinn Typhoon whitewalls. Also need to find some badge screws that fit.
And yes the badge is too new (actually this is an NOS badge)...but it works...red, white and blue...love it.

You gotta agree, this badge looks great...scratches or in this case no scratches.
