I see now what you mean on the BB. No it was not repaired, it was the old paint making it look modified. I wire brushed it off. See new picture below and comparison to non-drive side.

Looks like a factory weld to me. My Proline XXL has the exact same chainstay with the deep dish clearance indent so you can run a big 48t if wanted
