The best 50 bucks I ever spent on a CL bike!
Got it home in October 2008 and sprayed it with PB blaster.
With plans to tear it down and redo it. My son Taber who was 7 at the time notice the tires held air, and starting ride it right then.
He told me... " Put whitewalls on it and call it done!"
He has been riding it a lot since then.
Just last week I found "Cheap" 24" S7s whitewalls for it.

Who knew you could do free style tricks on a 1961 straight bar Schwinn Typhoon?

Taber's original 50 year old tire on the typhoon finally gave up in January 2012

The 24" bike might not fit him for much longer
Thanks for looking!

Wow, that bike looks like it's been loved these past few years. It's been used and appreciated for its original utilitarian purpose. Thanks for sharing! I think all of us saw our childhood in these pictures.

+1, I'd say the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree! The whitewalls with the white rims look really cool and make the the bike pop!

Thats very cool! its awesome that it still gets ridin like it would have back in the 60's as just a reg ol bike :) hope when I have kids they love bikes like I do... even tho they wont get to ride daddies "special bikes" lol Thanks for the pic of it with white walls also, I have a 63 26" typhoon thats all patina'd and ive been thinking white walls might look odd on white rims but i think it looks good on yours and mines the same color

Ty

Thanks Tychevelle,

Some of my best childhood memory's are about riding and building bikes.. Hope my kids enjoy them also.
I wasn't sure the whitewalls would look good, but I really like how they make the patina white rims pop!
