Still in the stand. The 2.125 Duro tires measure out at 2.350 inflated on the 45mm wide rims. Plenty of mud clearance or room for 2.500 tires. I’ve had these tires maybe 10 years, they’ve yellowed some in that time.

Need to decide on drivetrain ratio, rear cog is a 19T. Need to check the chainring count.
There’s a bit of age, but I guess I also need some rust.
Chainring = 42T, have a 22T rear cog vs the 19T.

Any recommendations for rear cog size?

SBC has a 27.5” full built version of the frame I’m building up. I’d forgotten that it had gum-wall tires as well.

I used the Stan’s product for my rim strips. I picked up a SRAM SS chain on Friday. I usually use the KMC chains for 1/2” x 1/8” applications.

I switched the 19T rear cog out for a 22T and added the chain. I’ll see how the 22 x 42 combination works out, usually easier to shorten chain than making it longer if I downsize.
I also got the lower bearing race set on the fork and greased the bearings. It was all mocked up dry.
I have some various bars to experiment with. The pair I think I want to use are on another bike. I have to move a bunch of stuff to get to them.

I see I did a Walmart assembly, noticed as I was making this post.

The front of those bars are just begging for some lights, or a horn or a "whatever" ....
A row of "off road" lights would look really rugged. All kinds of baggage and mount options for the Jones stuff. Kinda blocks access to the multiple hand positions though...

I put away my tools and moved my temporary workshop stuff around to get my wife’s car back in the garage. Prior to that I moved some bikes around to get to the one I was going to cannibalize for the bars. When I got to it I changed my mind.
I also found the BMX bars that came on my other SBC Klunker I’d like more pullback.
I have the pedals, several grip options and a few other accessories. Just need to decide on a bar style, I might spring for the touring style bars.
I’ve been looking at the long reach caliper brake options. Need something around 4.25” for the front as a backup for the coaster brake.

Maybe 15 years or so ago a group of us did a weekly night ride either in town or out in country on dirt roads. I guess it was actually two different groups. The rides were during winter months so in darkness and cold. We’d stop some where for coffee or something hot to rejuvenate. The bike I’m building would have worked and the couple of lights I had would have worked on the Jones style HBars.

Think I’m past the night riding, I’ve become cold sensitive and my sense of balance is less in the dark. So lights on this type bars would be mainly for looks not unlike a lot of the trucks I see running around with all sorts of light bars and spots.

I did order a set of the Weeras bars. Should arrive this week, so we’ll see how that goes. Guess I could add some lights to accommodate for my senior status.

Pre-surgery cardiologist appointment coming up, prior to hernia surgery. With the current daily changes, I’m not even sure the surgery will happen with insurance coverage. Guess time will tell.

I changed out the stem to fit the 31.8 mount required for the H style bars. I mounted them up, no ride test yet. In setting over the bike I think they might be a good fit, just little dashboard out front to think about.

Best of luck on the hernia! Did that x2 in 2023. No fun
