3 inch wide tires fit on electra townies ?

Does anyone know for sure if 3 inch wide tires fit on townies ?

I BARELY fit a 24x3 on my wife’s cruiser 1. It was on my cruiser 1 before that. Both bikes were 26 inch bikes, but the 24x3 looks like a perfect fit. Comfortable ride.

The height of the 26 x 3 is about 28". The width may work, the 24 x 3 fits, but the height might not.
