this is my canvas. a mid 30's Elgin balloon tire bike.

the bike was painted a teal so im in the process of stripping it. there is some original red under there so im going to get as much of that exposed as possible to give it that ratty look. i plan on getting some brick red colored tires to match.
heres a mock up

I'm with you there I can never find bikes this old and in my area people think they are gold no matter the condition they are in.

i actually found it on craigslist for 75 bucks. the guy was really cool and this bike didnt fit in with all his immaculate 40's tank bikes (all made in Ohio)

today was derby day and thats a holiday for central ky. my girlfriend and i rode our elgins downtown to the derby breakfast to show our artwork. its been about 6 months since i bought my bike and it was a sweet ride. I never got to re-cover my long spring saddle so when that happens it will probably end up on this.

super-NICE!...those bikes were a "BIG HIT" at the Governor's Derby Breakfast in Downtown Frankfort...I'm looking for some bars like that for my 1930s Colson...the "RUSTIER" the better, ok maybe just a tad of silver...
