I had about 10 minutes this afternoon and thought I'd look for a donor frame to start with.

First, let's check the bicycle hidey hole.

I do love those Murray Ohio frames. This is when I got extremely lucky!

The 1 1/8" threadless fork cups fit perfectly into the old frame, that never happens!

I like the wheel clearance on the downtube.

And it has a pretty nice stance.

Now I gotta start cutting out tubes.

It's amazing to me that the Ohio frames make it out of the factory, with all the salt used in this state in the winter; everything rusts away.

Haha, I took my students on a mission trip to Cleveland last summer and was amazed at how cars so much newer than mine were rusting away! My newest is a 2006 Kia Sedona minivan that's just as rust free as my '93 Camry wagon that's just as rust free as my '85 Chevrolet S10. I'd cry to watch cars rot away up there while they have so much life left.

Oh, that chopper you posted on page one. Is that the empire kustom you built a couple years ago? I used one on my Air Force Too attempt, also an Ohio bike.
 
Fun Fact! My first build-off bike (The 76er) was also using Murray Ohio frame of the same vintage and also ended up with a triple tree fork.

I still think 76er was your best build. So many slick ideas on that one. The flame cut fender inspired the flame skirts I did later. Also those double flipped stems you did were sick.
 
With all intention to work on my bike today (I have Thursdays off) I decided to start by changing the oil in my truck which led to changing the valve cover gasket, then painting the valve cover gasket, which caused me to break the pcv elbow, which put me on my Ruckus to Auto Zone for a new one, then rotating my tires and adjusting my belts. Bike didn't get touched.

This is rat rod bikes, so I'm using the support poles from our trampoline "cage." There are straight ones and curved ones, they are galvanized so I will need to grind off the galvanizing for welding and painting.

To help me miter the pipe ends straight I need to make something.

A few screws later.

Now I have something to hold the curved pieces straight while I grind the ends.
