I spent a good part of today wrestling with old low-end MTB cartridge bottom brackets to get someone onto a 1 x 8 MTB townie conversion. Started with a steel late 80's Specialized Hardrock that I had already been chipping away at for about a year. Still no dice there. Proceeded to a 2000's Specialized Hardrock and it denied me on the drive side. Third time was a charm though on a 2000's Trek 4500, which spun right off on both sides. The up side is that all three frames are stripped down and the salvageable parts for the 2000's Specialized are stored properly. Next up in the stuck cartridge BB realm, either buying or fabricating a short reach 3/8" drive t-handle.

I think a beer is in order tonight.
