This is how I learned how to make decent looking pinstripe on a flat black fender. I've only done this once and I didn't get pics but I'll explain the method I used.
Step 1: Find a design you like on the Internet and print it out, if it is two colors make a few extras. If you have words or lettering flip the image before printing.
Step 2: Trace in pencil your first color. If you have a second color trace that color on the second sheet as not to get confused. Try to trace heavy so it will transfer nicely.
Step 3: Lay the paper over the spot you want to pinstripe and press hard and rub so the graphite pencil lead transfers to the paint giving you a nice guide line to paint. Forks best on flat black which is what I used.
Step 4: Lay on the first color.
Step 5: Repeat for second color and clear coat after paint dries ( I used a satin clear)
