I was approached by a friend of mine about finding him an old or old looking skinny tire bike with some gears. He wants it to look cool as well so I start brainstorming. I look at my herd of bikes and alas! A late 60's early 70's ladies 5 speed CCM and I just happened to have the mens frame of same color and approx. year. Gonna swap everything over, street sweep the fenders, not sure on bars yet. I'd really like to paint it that GM teal, I just love that color. This won't be anything super exciting, just a build.

Stripped the chick and dressed the male for a mockup today. Now for some tedious wheel polishing. I've got some wide whites comin' for it already. I think I'm gonna go black on it now. Maybe some wood accents as well. Back to work I guess.

Haven't had much progress lately but I managed to restore the front hub and paint the front wheel. This is my first wheel build so I hope when it comes to lacing it, it turns out ok. I took detailed pics to reference while lacing so hopefully that helps. I decided to paint the wheels because the chrome was a little too pitted on the spoke face but the sides are fine so I'm going for the red wheels with chrome trim rings look.

Well my first attempt at wheel lacing went pretty good. Took me a little while to figure out the spoke sequence but I got it. I even trued it up good on the fork it will be going on. Then I spun it and looked at it from the side and it has a hump. Must have gone too tight on the one side

I was thinking when you said gender swap that you were turning the female bike into a male bike. Not just swapping frames. You say potatoe, I say potato.
