Just arrived on my doorstep this morning! A '59 Wasp, just like the one in the Schwinn book! I own a 63 HD Wasp, but it just doesn't have the style of this earlier one! It looks like it had a rebuild in the early 80s, as it has a hi flange front hub, and a Bendix 76 rear coaster. Wald bars, Schwinn script grips off a Walmart bike, and it came with a mattress S seat, which I'm going to use on something else. I installed my fave cruiser seat, a Mesinger w/a tan cover. Almost Phantom-ey. The bike also came w/a chrome aftermarket rear rack, I decided to leave that off. I'm jazzed to have such a sweet bike! Most of my stuff is pretty rusty! Rode it around the block once I assembled it, sweet ride! Tough to pedal up any grade though, even w/the 22 tooth sprocket on the hub. I'm thinking about putting a fender light on, the white area has been repainted, and has some dents. And if I ran across a matching paint rear rack...

A real beauty!

And I like the seat choice. If there aren't holes for a light, I'd be partial to no light.

No matter what you do with it, it is bound to be sweet. It's a really stylish bike off the bat. The newer wheelset and the seat are great touches, and I love the color too. It's kind of cruiser five -esque. Congrats on a really great find.
