Got this one cheap enough. A coworker is asking for me to refurb one for him. If he doesn't like I'll just have to keep it! :D
The paint has a little character but the chrome is real nice. The back wheel is a 40 spoker also, which is nice.

i have got a 68' raleigh superbee so similar to yours and about the same condition. once in rideable shape and fixed, these old raleighs are bulluitproof. some fender adjustments, new shift wire, tires and chain and you'll almost be there. :D

diggin those old raleigh chainrings.

I have a '61 also. I picked it up for $25 too, same price as the '69 . I'm really proud of this one and will shamelessly use any excuse to post pics of her!

So............Do you work on anything else, besides GREEN bikes?

Yeah, that Hercules was green too huh? I'm ashamed to say I haven't even touched that 5 spd sprite yet. I'm in the middle of my nephews bike (Nick's Popular) and my build off bike, which are both English. If I work on many more English bikes I'm gonna' develop an accent! Pip-pip, Cheerio!

Ya gotta show them the generator.............I've seen one work, seemed frictionless (new word). ...Some guy I sold tires to, in a parking lot, showed me.

'Hey kid, ya wanna buy some tires?' :D

By request: The Dyno-hub front wheel from my '61.

My apologies for the 'heavenly gleam' of the chrome in these pictures. I hope I didn't damage anyone's retinas.

Re: 69' Raleigh Sports refurbishment

Well I been so busy lately I haven't had any time for bikes. Figured I clean this one up to help cure my withdrawls.

Disassembled the frame and polished it with compound. Hammered the dents out of the fenders then I cleaned and greased the crank bearings. Put a fresh set in the neck.

Front wheel cleaned up nice. Genuine Raleigh tires, made in Holland.

The TCW tri-coaster hub was grinding. Gee I wonder why??

Bad brake band.

Can't find a brake band. :x Thats OK, I have an AW hub and wheel I can use. I like to disassemble and clean them.

Everything looks good and clean. Hopefully I'll have time and I can put it back together later today.

I can turn the simpest refurb into a project!

Oh i guess I could too! lol Heres my 1939 Raleigh Sports, not restored. theres two other sports behind it, note the sheered off crank arm, yep I guess you should change those before riding it after it sat so long lol, I have quite a few Sports. I collect them. never a green though I like the green ones.

I'll trade you 2 green ones for that '39! That's a nice bike. Are the hubs correct? What model is the rear hub?
I'll continue this refurb in builds.

This whole bike is period correct, hubs are Sturmy archers. they both have grease ports and so does the bottom bracket. rear brake is a 3 speed drum brake. The shifter for gears is called Wicocycle lol as for if i'm parting with it. i'm not sure, i do love it and what not. The Raleigh I'm looking for are A green sports/superbe Or a Red or blue Sports or gold or chrome. also i'm canadian so i'm off in far off land lol

Are the wheels and bars new? if they are just cleaned up you have done a great job

Inspires me to get stuck into my bikes........
