new to road bikes and parts! i want to put together a touring bike with an old lightweight frame (speedster, varsity, suburban) i was wondering what i would need to do to fit a road bike fork to a lightweight? maybe somebody with a fixie has done this?

Tubular forks that will fit the old frames are readily available. As far as threadless or carbon type stuff, I would think anything labeled as 1" head set would work, but I don't know that for a fact. Also, 27" and 700c are pretty much interchangable, other than tire/rim. In other words, 700 whls fit 27" fork and vice versa.

I put a 700 rim with a 3 speed Sram hub and a 27" rim on a 1970 Schwinn Speedster.

^^I assume that was two wheels? One with the three speed and 27", the other with the a front hub and 700c?
