Picked this one up yesterday from a forum member yesterday.

He was visiting a friend out of state recently and this was that person's childhood bike. He said that he got it new in 1972 and then converted it over to a BMX bike sometime in the 75-76 time frame. It has a bike license from Cedar Rapids, IA.

I plan to clean it up and throw a Tractor Grip tire on the back and that's about it. Let me know if anyone has an old Tractor Grip tire they'd be willing to sell.

Me likee. Any idea on the brand of forks? Or where he got them?

I think they are probably just Taiwan knocks offs of the Redline fork. The welds don't look nice enough to be of any high quality.

Managed to win this set of super cool early wheels and tires for cheap today so I'll probably be swapping them out when they arrive.

What is the serial number on it? you don't see too many 72 stingrays that are non-krate bikes. I've been looking for an April 72 for a while...

It's cool that it was converted to bmx back in the day. I remember looking at those v-tread gumwall tires in the back of the Schwinn catalog.
