A Few more Forks and Such

I am starting to like that twin top tube look.
At first it looked flimsy to me.

Lets try a better seat, some lower gearing , and better pedals.

Such simple changes, but a big difference when riding.

Kinda fun now, even with the steel wheels and coaster brake.

Might leave it alone. Except for the stem. Want to find or make a taller one to raise up
the bars, but not change the look much.

So is this bike now a Bomber ?

That twin bar frame is REALLY cool! Chain guard has some unique style as well.

I will save the original parts.

I'm seeing about 2" up for the stem, just so the bars can tilt down a bit.
Not real tall.

Now geared for about 9.9 mph. Fast enough for me.

It will be a good ride to keep around to remember why we
now have bikes with gears and good brakes.

Hawthorne was Montgomery Ward's house brand. Supplied by many manufacturers, like Sears J.C.Higgins or Elgin brands.

That one is made by Snyder, and are normally branded as Rollfast (Snyder house brand).

Thank you for the reply and info.
I am thinking this was not a very high end bike when new,
and as such, is not collectable.

Even so, I wound up with it, and want to make it rideable.

Raising the stem up is next on the list for that bike.
Like many older bikes, only small diameter stems will fit.
Will need to 'assemble" one.
Here are possible donor stems.

A neighbor knows I build (plays with) bikes.
So he left this one for me.
Looks like this might be my next bike. HaHa. Isn't that why they're named "Next" ?

Don't have much of an idea of what to do with this.
It does have dual suspension of sorts. Aluminum frame. Steel forks and rear triangle. 26" wheels.
A big and heavy thing.
Price was right.

Sometimes things happen that cannot be understood completely.
Like this one.
When he left off the "Next" bike, he also left off 4 old saddles.
All need work of some kind,
don't own a horse, don't plan to.

Might be difficult to pedal if hung on a bike.
That bike would need a WIDE bottom bracket.
