A junkyard find

Is this bike worth anything? I called the number on the frame and they told me it was built in 2003 and sold by Target! I know the older Powerlites can be worth some money, but a department store Powerlite?

Definately newer and probably not a gold mine.

I got one of those from a police auction last year. They weigh a ton. I was suprised to find out it was a cheapo bike now too. I still cleaned it up real nice and sold it for $70 or so.

Powerlite is now owned by Dorel...company that owns Pacific Cycle and makes all of the crap bikes for Wal-Mart...including Schwinn.

Well, it wasn't the Ebay queen I thought it was. But overall, it was worth saving. Find some cheap wheels and a seat, give it to a family in need. heck, this PowerLite was better than the Team Murray I used to ride back when I was 13.

Powerlite took a big name brand "Hit". Even the real Powerlite 90s stuff, like mine, doesn't go for much on eBay as a result of this. I had often wondered what the missing link was and this must be it.

Hyper just made it into Walmart and the things have threaded forks. The industry is saying what a great thing it is because the bikes go for less than $100.00 and are to be considered actual race bikes (entry level race bikes to grow the sport).

Diamondbacks are now sold at ....'s and have taken a major brand name blow.

When will these turkeys learn?
