I’ve been using Acid for ice cream rides with my son, and also commuting a handful of times (12km / 7mi round trip). The latter has revealed some annoyances that I’ll sort out.

Tire clearance in the rear is really tight, any mud makes contact between tire and fork.

A long desire to learn how to weld, and the ‘need’ for improvement, made me take the plunge.

Curious how you make these bikes look like low riders. Are the wheels oversized for the frame? Obviously some of it is the from the fork. Looks like maybe the rear drops were modified.

The bike had quite a lot of work done during Build Off 18.

Yes the wheels are oversized and the tires are huge. Here it is parked beside a stock identical model cruiser for comparison

The steerer tube on the 1930s fork was too short and had a different threading than any headset I’ve found. So I solved it temporarily with a 1” aheadset.

Now I’ll weld on a threaded extension to the steerer.

Next up is the project to route the shift cables and the rear brake hose internally.

Rear suspension was too soft before, and with the kinematics of the rear suspension, made serious pedal bob.

So I cut the original springs in two and doubled up in the shock legs spring supports. Now instead of two 300mm springs working in parallel, it utilizes four 150mm springs
