Aging/Antiquing Chrome

I failed in my search for an aged fork, so I had to settle for a new production springer. I want it to look old and beat up, is there a way to age chrome other than just beating the hell out of it? Thanks!

There was a thread about using a vinegar and salt mix look that up, scotchbrite pad and WD40 dulls it out good, then use that mixture on it. Works fast.

i took 220 grit on a orbital to my ape hangers. turned out pretty good. that werent new had some rust on them. kinda look like semipolished stainless now.

if its made in china just leave it outside for a week or 2.....

yeah leave it outside. where my friend lives he'll make new parts age 20 years in 2 weeks. :roll:

i recommend getting a dog. they'll do what damage to it they can, but it's usually only cosmetic.

I dont know why, but my dog loves chewing on pedals, dropouts, and spokes especially.

but he'll drag pieces into who knows where and they'll come back all beat up and weathered
