So as if by magic, I just oncovered a bunch of schwinn tanks for sale on eBay (most at outrageous prices). They seem to be totally chromed. Is this normal? Did they come this way and then you paint them or apply a decal for color. What's up with these things? Are they real, NOS, or repro'd?

Also, does anyone know if these are correct for my '59 Jaguar? They always advert them as Corvette or Phantom, but they look the same.

Thanks.

Buster

Prices look about right to me........

They're reproductions, and yes, they will fit a Jaguar. That particular cantilever style stank can be found on and off for much less on Ebay with a little patience.

The Jaguar cantilever tank is different than all the others. One of the tank halves has an indentation that the brake and shifter cables pass through. You can probably modify the repop tank to clear your cables easy enough. All chrome for a Phantom build or paint the whole thing for a B6 or other model. Gary

My tank is a repop I bought years ago, then peeled off the decals to make it all chrome. Then I painted it to match my mongrel Schwinn. I also drilled a hole for the shift cable to enter. There is room at the rear for cables to exit without drilling or cutting.
