Almart German "Muscle" Bike

A customer at the shop told me there was a banana seat bike in someone's yard a few blocks behind the shop so I went to check it out. I've not seen one like it but I'm assuming that Almart is like a German Walmart - nothing fancy. It didn't have a front wheel on it when I got it. It shows signs of having a stick shifter on it at some point and was yellow gold. Has a Sturmey Archer rear hub dated 1969.

I have a 18" or 16" one.

I see a lot of similarities. I'd like to find out what kind of shifter this one had but kind find any info on them. I'd also like to get a front fender to match but I'm not getting my hopes up.

close! Wolfsburg would've had a wolf on top of the castle in the center.

Almart was actually and American department store chain. We had two of them locally and they both closed sometime in the late 1970's.

How many speeds is the hub? (my guess is 3).
They sell the clickboxs-cables etc(not expensive).
Looks like the cable ran up and around the cable wheel,most likely without the housing.
Here is a stick shift that would have been on the bike.

ooops by the look of the newish paint where the shifter was,maybe more like this.

Funny has all english parts with a frame that's almost a USA design.

The shifter I'll be using on this one is the Sturmey Archer Sportshift. I have one mib and will be using it. It lines up perfectly with the outline on the top tube.

shifter is on, just waiting for the parts for the hub.

I got the chainguard off of a 26 Sports 70 bicycle that also has a "Made In West Germany" sticker on it and I cut it down to fit.
