Got a lovely old AMF bike that I have posted on this board. I can't seem to get the seat post tightened enough and it has the brilliant wedge bolt seat stem. (sarcasm is dripping). Is there a way to use a standard seat stem? Or for that case does anyone have one laying around that they can part with? I'm thinking mine is messed up as it is. Let me know, thanks!

You might try cutting some grooves in the wedge parallel with the post using a cut off wheel. They don't need to be deep, just something to give the wedge a bite inside the seat tube. A few around the bottom of the post wouldn't hurt either.

Ah... finally figured it out. It seems the threads on the bolt are a little stripped at the top and when I tighten the bolt it eventually just skips back down the bolt and loosens back up. Times to look for a new bolt!
