I tell ya Kev, they are so nerdy that they are cool!
I never thought of owning one until Charlie and his Puch stopped by.
I was doing 40 mph sitting straight up and screaming down the street, and he had less than 300 bucks in it, it was a blast!! I was hooked. :mrgreen:

I never see any "cheap" mopeds around here. Seems like people always want some crazy money for them when I see them on the CL. I guess that's not the place to look.

I've seen mopeds like the ones in this thread priced in the $700-$1000 range...pretty crazy.
 
I got some more done on the ped today, got rid of that seat and a ton of brackets that were left behind.
Cut the filler off and gonna have Pops fill it in for me while I'm in PA.

I got the rear cowl and seat pan cut and mounted today, yipeee.
It's starting to look more like a racer even though in the pics it looks like a haggard piece-o- crap!

Man Kenny, this thing is looking very cool.

I tell you what, a friend of mine suggested we submit a pilot for a TV series called Rat Rod Bikes. He said it would be cool to jump from builder to builder and see what everyone is working on. Throw in some stretches and some crazy mopeds and I think people would watch. :shock:

I kept seeing this thing at a small farmhouse on my way to work. i told my wife,
"If I ever see anybody there I'm gonna ask how much they want for it.".
Well, I finally saw somebody there and the old guy said $10. SOLD!!!!
I actually gave him $20 just cuz.
Brought it home and a buddy got it fired up in no time. It's stock except for the pipe. I had to do that. Gonna give it a chop some day, just too many projects right now.
The end of the pipe comes out along with the baffle. LOUDEST scoot I'VE ever heard !!!!!!!!!!!!

I pulled the baffles out and when it first fired up I just started laughing, it is soooooo freakin' obnoxious, I love it! :mrgreen:

Mopeds Rock !!

Here is a cool one I saw a few of in South Carolina....
A Tomos.

I looked at 50cc scooters (same motor) in West Palm
on monday to roll on if I ever feel the need to become
gainfully employed again....Guys are getting 50mph out
of relatively easy mods. Two Strokes are IT !!

Moped vs. Fatchicks

I always thought the coolest mopeds were the Yamaha FS-1s...I remember them new on the dealer floor in about '77-78 when I was riding a YZ80 (offroad) and too young to drive. Most other Mopeds looked truely geekie. It ALMOST looked like a motorcycle and me and the buddies wanted one bad. Dirtbikes were one thing STREET motorcycles (or mopeds for that matter) were another, and Mom said NO to this one! (LOL) Cafe racers were the rage and the little Yammie had that look goin'...nice to see the Cafe style of your builds!!!

HAVE YOU EVER....

Heard of a "madass" by Tomberlin, I just got one, its aaaawwsssooommee! Get pics up as soon as I fix the handle bar I
bent went I crashed it the first day I got it.

My lady friend on the back would not lean with the turns....dont worry, my head took most of the force protectng my body....And I entirely broke her fall.

BTW...my Dad just informed me that he still has my old Jawa moped out in his shed.

No telling what kind of shape it's in after sitting for 21 years. :shock:
