DON'T RUN AND JUMP ON THE BOARD :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: This leads to a face plant

find a comfortable riding stance (goofy-push with the front/back foot or reg.-push with the back/front foot.
personally, i ride goofy (right foot forward) and push with my left (back foot)
when your ready to learn to ollie, do it on the grass, a piece of carpet or something else that offers resistance to the wheels.(ollie in place) practice till ya land em with perfect balance every time. (the more you practice the higher they will get.)

then move to the pavement.
first learn it static (not moving) then move on to the rolling ollie.
the ollie is the base of most tricks. once you master it, the rest is just time spent on the board.

try not to fall, or at least try to look cool if you do

the extent of my skateboarding skills included grinds, ollies, and shove-its. killed a lot of time just with those. i was alot better at tony hawk on playstation though.

i fell doing a grind once and had an elephant wrench in my pocket, it was the most painful bruise i'd ever had
