In 2017 I accompanied a mate to Japan who exported motorcycles. I found this 1980 limited edition Honda z50 on a mezzanine in a huge wrecking yard. The front lower fork legs were bent and the speedo showed less than 5km.

Once i got it home i drained the tank of the 37 year old fuel, swapped the fork legs and added a km to the speedo in the car park at work.

I also picked up this unique 50cc Honda solo.

That monkey is a gold mine. Not quite Bitcoin money, but still good

Never had one, but want one, if I gotta build one- which I have a few ideas for. Closest I had was a 150 scooter, and that was pretty fun, and I could wring it out here and there.

I currently have an '80 Garelli SSXL that I want to get running, but I know I need more than the 50cc. I have two plans either find like a 200cc Lifan, which would make it a motorcycle, or convert it to hydrostatic drive either with the original, or different moped engine, or with like a 670 Predator. I rode a 50cc scooter once and it was garbage, I know 50cc with a single speed will be worse. I think a hydrostatic drive might be better than other automatic trans options.

I was team Rooke on that one (obscure reference to Finch vs Rooke episode of Biker Build Off in the oughts  ).
He built some cool stuff with a definite bicycle influence. His springers were awesome

Another one of those build off era guys that is gone now RIP

I've got a mid 90's Honda 450 automatic in pieces given to me last year. Maybe one of these days...

Carl.
