Has anyone ever tired to make a braced laid back seat post (like a Cook Brothers) in 5/8 tubing for the pre-war frames?

was sort of thinking to try something like that. but first I need a way to bend the solid 5/8 rod I have. LMK how it works if you do it.

Oh a Mapp gas torch will do it fine. Heat up a narrow band at the bend point ,bend in vise.

Would it even be neccessary? I have never busted a solid 5/8" bent seatpost, or even bent it further. I'm assuming the extra brace would only be for looks?

Nevermind, I get it. You want tubing instead of solid.

i plan on making one this weekend and getting it welded monday. im going to take my original seat post and put a bent peice of conduit inside of it and have that welded then a triangular piece of steel in the corner of the bend

i got it done but i need to reweld some of it. that conduit isnt very sturdy lol pics maybe tommoro im gona try and get stuff done on the bikes but im also busy

I think you can find a 5/8 dia jack handle at the local autoparts yard, cut the ends off and file a bevel, paint and the bend should be about right as is.
