I have a couple of them on bikes being used and one getting laced up for another project right now. How can I help?

I just bought one...what problems do they have?

The biggest problem I've had to date is the realization that if I take the one off the 8yr old girls beach cruiser even just to test it on the bmx cruiser for an afternoon she's going to kill me. At first I thought this was an idle threat but when she asked her mom about how she could sharpen knifes to make cutting her sandwiches easier I decided better safe than sorry.

This is obviously a BIG functionality and availability problem with the hub because it means I've had to buy another one because the one I already have isn't usable at all for what I want to do.

I got mine, in fact all my geared hubs, packed with marine grease. My understanding of hubs, any hub, is that internal corrosion is what kills them. I'm optimistic that by keeping it filled with hydrophobic lithium based grease this will not be an issue. These things also have torque limits that are published. At times I've been tempted to hook up a 32 tooth chain ring to one with a 24t cog for hills, I haven't done that because it would exceed the published maximum gear inches. Truth is a 36/20 is plenty for this bike, if the hill is so steep she can't pedal up it with that then gearing it lower won't help, she won't be going fast enough for the bike to be stable, so she might as well walk anyway.

Talked to Sturmey and they answered my question, just dimensional stuff as the descriptions are often vague and seem to be copied and pasted between the coaster and freewheel models.

Well, that's not very exciting! :D

Either way, Keep us informed on how well the thing works. I'm still wanting to get one, I really like the idea of gears w/no shifter (minimalist!).
And they are my favorite hub gear.
