I have a few Electra Fatti-o 24x3 tires. The problem I have is that the Electra rubs between the chain stays on my Schwinn. The Electra has a really sharp edge where the tire meets the sidewall, while the Felt Thick Brick tires look to have a more rounded shoulder. I was wondering if a Thick Brick would fit better, or if it would rub too? I do have a Fatti-o on a Schwinn, but I had to massage the chain stays a liitle for it to fit. I'm building another bike, and I don't want to modify the frame on this one.

I hate it when no one answers my questions, so here goes with my answer. it all depends. the width of the rim will dictate the profile of the tire. A wider rim will flatten out the height of the tire and make it more low profile (like a 50 series tire), but also widen the tread, which could rub the frame. A narrow rim will push the height of the tire up (like a 70 series tire). I've made the habit of measuring rims before you buy them. Most stores will just say they're "24X3" or "26X2.125" but that really doesn't tell you anything. You want to know the width of the outer rim (like 50mm). Comparing the rim widths will help you in figuring out what tire will either be flatter or taller.

So back to the original answer: it all depends.

PS :Most of us running 24X3s have had to 'massage' the rear stays and front forks to make them fit, so join the club.

spinman hit the nail on the head. a lot of it depends on rim width as it will push out the tire more. however i found personally that the electra tire fits better than the felt. the profile of the felt as you mentioned is more rounded but is fatter in the middle and it would not work in my bike "the higgins" when an electra tire did. also maybe try to add a link to your chain to pull the tire further backwards.
