Looks awesome! I also covered a frame in Comics years ago. The bike is still with us.
I then was thinking much about using paper because I was afraid it might come off again when the bike gets wet. Did you have any issues?
I would love to try it again.
Maybe this Rocky is the one šŸ¤”
If you make the final clearcoat thick enough and pay special attention to the edges there shouldn't be any problem, unless you leave it standing out in the rain for longer times.
Also you should choose a final coat that hardens enough to really protect the paper, as any damage creates any entry point to water.

Yeah exactly that was my fear. I ended up using waterslide decals and it came quite nice I think.

Nice and smart idea!
Also smart to leave out the lugs! Those are difficult to cover without wrinkles!

Did you print them yourself?

Yeah, you can buy the foil in A4 size and print them.with a laser or even ink printer. I took the ones for a laser printer because that's what we had in the office.
I bought the Comics as a .pdf and cut and arranged the pics digitally. That was the most work. After printing I cut out the pics and aplied them to the frame and than sealed everything with two layers of 2k clearcoat. The "paintjob" has lasted at least 12 years now.

I might make some changes to the bike šŸ¤”
New fork, some wider tires and another handlebar!!!!!

I haven't been able to do much in the last few days, but I have fitted the brake discs and noticed something.

Firstly, I think the front end looks pretty fat and secondly, the guys at Magura have actually put stainless steel sleeves in the screw holes for the brake to prevent the paint from flaking off and corroding the magnesium. Kind of cool.

The front brake has also arrived. A bit dirty and the cover is silver, but it was no more expensive than a pack of 5 new underpants.

And now I can always tell which brake is on the front.

No more otb hahaaa!!!

Underpants story when my wife and I first moved in every pair of my underpants was beat to hell my wife wanted to throw them out. The butt was still intact so no go. She decided to be clever and buy new underpants and I only got them if I got rid of a pair of the old ones. Well 12 years later those underpants are still brand new in her top drawer and I'm still wearing my animal underpants. So I have no idea how much 5 underpants cost.
