They look a little tweaked, but I'm wondering how hard someone has to hit something to bend forks. Seems like it would take some serious pressure, but maybe not.

Maybe I could just turn them backwards and run into a curb to bend them back...ha ha!

With my luck the forks would remain the same and the wheel would be bent.

when i was about 14 I was riding my Yamaha 175 enduro at a camp ground and some buddies waved me over to where they were fishing so i flew thru the prarie grass about knee high at 30 mph to get to them and hit a washout. the front tire ended up beside the engine lol. I am laying there in pain because the "jewels too a beating" and my buddies pulled and bent the forks back straight and took off riding my bike ...... but after that I always had the dent in the tank to remind me of the pain

looks bent there to me but it could just be the red/whit/black running together, id just use a straight edge and see if there were any waves in em. in know these arent tube forks but IMO they bend em to make em, bend em back :D

It's easier to bend forks than I thought too. I've got two newer sets of Haro Freestyle forks here that are 1 1/8" ....and beefy as heck....YET both pair of forks are tweaked...without any marks...and the front wheels were fine too

Yea them forks are slightly bent. if i were you i would take them off put them on 2 piecies of wood, get a heat gun and heat them up HOT! then use the soft end of a copper hammer (or a piece of wood and a normal hammer) and hit it. The forks are not too badly bent so they shouldn't loose any (or little) of thier strength.

Kev.

mr rat rod they are bent and need to be fixed. dont just turn the wheel around and run it into a wall that just is not right. if you want either find a shop that has a tool for it locally and if not my shop has one and i do all the truing of schwinn forks that come into the shop.

I heard a big craze back in the day was to ghost ride your bikes into walls!!

hook the back wheel to the fence with a chain then hook the front wheel to your car with a chain with lets see.... 20 foot of slack then drive as fast as ya can till the slack is out of the chain..... just remember to duck when the chain gets tight incase something breaks and it would come thru the back window lol
remember safety first!

that bike would look better with a springer on it anyways

I had a springer on it, but I pulled it off today because it kept binding on me when I turned left. I played around with a few things and just couldn't get it to turn smoothly.

Here she is with the springer and a skinnier front tire...

Kev.

Hey Kev,

This is one I think I need to hold on to. Since they only made it one year it just makes it that much more desirable.

BTW...that Hitler animation is disturbing...ha ha! Hope nobody on the forum gets the wrong idea about ya.

As a kid, I can remember the old Schwinn flat iron forks being real easy to bend in pretty much any direction. When you look at bikes on ebay many of them are bent just like yours. It's real apparent when the fender is on, they usually rub.

I think I will take karfer67's advice and call my buddy over at my LBS. They've been around for 40 years and they were a Schwinn dealer back in the day.
