Been sprayin' it with a Salt /Vinegar/Water mixture a coupla times daily...

Its starting to look like it was hoisted up from the Titanic.

I want to STOP the Rust (Patina) when it gets REAL Good and Crusty.

I discovered a REFLECTIVE Clear Coat Spray Bomb by RUSTOLEUM at Ace Hardware today.

This 'SHOULD' look interesting at night...

hmmm.. speeding up the rust process...
some guys will give ya a high 5 for doin' that. some guys will give ya the thumbs down for it.
i wont pass judgement on ya, but i will pass on some wisdom i heard when i was a young'un..OK maybe i saw it on a commercial for butter/margerine....
"it's not nice to fool mother nature"

anyhow, if that's what yer doin' we need pix of yer results.

i hope i aint showin' my age by makin' that butter reference

I was just looking at that reflective clear coat the other day. I would make sure you test it first in an unnoticeable place. Though it says it's a clear coat there is a good chance it will be a bit cloudy, and that would be terrible to have to sand it off and start the rust process all over.

OK here's some more(serious) info.
that's also why i asked for pix.

paint aint made to adhere to bare metal. yes it'll stick for a while, but it will not stay forever. it'll peel in a couple months or a couple years depending the temp/humidity/seasons/enviroment.
that's why they make primer. if the metal surface is properly cleaned and preped the primer will adhere. than when the primer is scuffed/sanded a base coat of color will adhere. than a top coat of clear can be applied.
if you skip all these steps the clear will not survive long.

i know this because...well, i just know. and a buddy of mine wanted to have the tank on his motor-sickle have the bare metal look. it looked great for the first month or so, but the tank started to delaminate after awhile.

now i know a bunch of rustolium products are oil based and are suggested that they dont need a primer.
i dont know about their clear coat.

read the instructions on the can and let us know how it works out, and than show us pix of yer results.

GUYS,Its only a newer Trek 26" Cruiser Frame.

I would NEVER do this to anything OLD.

Most of yas would have just tossed this frame to the curb.
