Recently I was involved with organising the art show which was part of the Aussie Hot Rod Nationals. The idea was to feature a nice selection of art pertaining to hot rods and the whole 'kustom kulture' thang. Needless to say, I made sure we snuck some bikes in when no one was looking     The cool part was the exhibition was held in the Council run art gallery, so it was great taking over it for a week! In the four day period of the nats, we had over 1,000 people through the doors
Oooookay, enough of the yakking already, here's some pics for ya's all.
An overall shot of the exhibition
My Taboo Tiki Cruiser
A Harley Davidson Cruiser
A couple bobbers
One the plinth is my mate's tiki carvings, and on the wall is the art of Ben Quilty. Now bear in mind Ben has just won an international portrait competition worth $150,000, and his originals pictures go for $30,000 a pop! Also pictured are a vintage pedal car and old fuel tins - I think we got a really cool mix of stuff.
Some digital prints displayed alongside some original pinstriped pieces
These were the tophies for the nats! Ground aluminium 'wing' sections complete with nose at style pin ups 8)
Some more of the art on display
All of this tiki stuff is from my personal collection, most of it gifts or swaps with the artists. One lady wanted to buy everything in there! uhhh, no, not for sale
