Wow I never knew there was a modern size of rim that was the same size as a 26 inch S7. Crazy. Bike looks cool. Like what you got going on with the gears.

I did forget to mention that I flipped the dogbone so now that when the bars are in the dropped position it faces up
(it seems to work best that way since the drop on the bars is longer than standard)
and faces down when the bars face up
(because the adapter stem sits fairly high up already)
Yes if it wasn't for visiting Sheldon Brown's website I may have never noticed that the s7 tires are the same as the 650c rims

but just because it looks good on paper didn't mean it may work in practice
so i was still taking a chance that it might not have worked
Same with the gears it worked on small scale with the coaster brake challenge bike I am building but I wasnt sure it would work on a larger scale
most of those small scale test the tooth count difference was about 15t not 45t like this bike has

Not much to report except I have found some fenders for the rear
but I need to see which style I like best for the build
I did have to shorten them
And I picked which quick release clamp for the coaster brake arm to use
I did have to widen it a little bit
The few threads that are sticking out pat the nut are what I ended up filling down in order to make it work

I am guessing the rounded fender will look best, but the squared one has cool character about it too.

I am having trouble picking a fender that works
the squared one looks to narrow the rounded one doesn't fit right either
and i can not work on the most of the sheetmetal work because it needs to be attached to the fender
Fortunately there is one more cycle swap to look for fenders at
the rest of the time I have been working on a seat post
but most ideas are not working out quite right

Don't know what I'm doing, gonna do it anyway.
Do you think you might have the time and materials to widen the square fender?
I know welding that thin of metal sucks, but it might be an option. Infeasible, but an option.

Schwinn exercise handlebars
Older version on the left / newer on the right
These things suck for using on bikes
but after cutting them up
They make good custom 7/8 pre bent chrome seat post
I just need to get it mocked up and make the final cuts
hard to say I will have more of an idea after this weekend
right now finishing the seat post
making a number plate (aka a mini tank insert)
and fitting a front headlight take priority
Anyways

but apparently there is a blockage so i can not show it all the way down in cruise mode

Also for anyone curious about why I didn't cut up the other exercise bars
Some of you may remember my earlier build of trying to use as many schwinn exerciser parts on my mid 50's schwinn (before photobucket blocked em all)
Others may not
So here is a bit of a reminder
Not fully finished since my time has been dedicated to working on B/MSR #305
but after the build off I plan on getting it completed

Lots of scores while looking at the swap meet and through some of my parts stash
Found a schwinn fender that I think will work best
It was probably off a bike that had s7 tires
so that might be why the size fits better than my other fenders

Also found a set of wald hbars that closely match the hbars I originally was going to use
I put the dogbome on the wald bars

One of the other thing I found was an alternative seat and post in my parts stash
Turns out I couldn't get the post past 1/2 way down
almost like the whole tube narrowed
So instead I found this messinger seat to use
And a (I think mtn bike stem) that I bought a while back at the local co-op for its long bolt
Turns out it seems to show signs of being a good replacement post
with some modifying
Stem (i mean seat post) is cut, drilled and ready for install
earlier mockup with new post, seat, and fender

You might could use the pulley mount on the seat post for mounting a tail light /reflector or what ever.

Actually my plan for that is to use an adjustable secondary brace
when the post is at its max height there is only 3in left in the frame
so that should give it extra stability
You've been busy with this one. I like how it's all shaking out.

While working on a few ideas for the headlight
I came across an idea that involves using a murray monterey chainguard
First cut it in 1/2
remove the front
Angle cut the longer ends
then keep trimming
until both pieces can be sandwiched together
more trimming
Anyone care to guess ant what this will become
I will post more about it tonight

That murray monterey chain guard will now be the mini tank insert / aerodynamic number plate
(that is why it tappers to a point)
Mocked up in cruise mode
still needs mounting brackets but wanted to see how it looked on the bike
could have made a longer one if I had another murray chainguard
but who keeps those things

Had a minor issue with the seat
It wasn't staying in place with with the "post" kep angling back
However it looks like I can make the original seat that i was using which was the Ideal leather saddle
Fortunately the ideal saddle had the original extra adjustment extensions that i could make work on the post
the lower clamp is for when I make the extra post brace
Also found a paint/color that looks promising
backside of the number plate used as a test pain
The color is a has a bit more brown than what is shown in the pic
looks a bit like the color of these
