Does anyone know how to make a bicycle speedometer to run backwards while the needle still shows the speed your going just like the 1958 Plymouth from the movie Christine does and one of my friends actually owns it?

This is the real prop used in the movie by the owner of the Mooche Chaser Christine who I know through the 57/58 Plymouth site and two of the Christine sites I am a member at.

This is for a future addition to my Christine bike so I don't have one yet.

Would that work, I thought the MPH would go back and bust the needle like it would when your speedometer goes past it's designated speed because I have heard it happened to someone when they were driving before?

My understanding of the way a speedo like that 'spools up' is that the works feed a spring load to the needle in a linear fashion to make it climb. Short answer is that trying to run it 'backwards' wont work and is likely to bust it.
You could maybe make a new faceplate with the numbers backwards?
