Bad Seller Vibes...

Be very careful out there guys dealing with strangers. This happened to me this morning.

Drove nearly 60 miles one way to pick up 3 old bikes for 35.00. Huffy Good Vibrations, Rollfast twin bar mens (I really wanted that one) Ross 3 speed. His 35.00 asking price was about all they were worth considering cond.

When I finally get there this place is on a dead end road next to a lake in the middle of NOWHERE. House is a delapidated old block building surrounded in weeds. You can tell they aint got a pot to pee in.

First wanted me and wife to drive them to a store or send the women while we wait. NO FREAKIN WAY. Guy is desperate for money. I had very bad vibes and I dont get them from anyone else. He was also telling me the Rollfast was a Schwinn and was selling for 300 plus on the internet. Possibly trying to weasel more money out of the deal. My mind was racing so I told him I had to go get the cash from an ATM and quickly left. We were there no more than 2 minutes. I wasnt about to put myself in a bad situation out in the boonies with a couple of cruds. You have to be very careful these days. This cpuld have easily turned in to a robbery or worse. The guy may have been just broke but I wasnt about to stick around to find out. I sure miss getting that Rollfast but there will be others. Be careful out there in your dealings with strangers especially on their own turf.

UPDATE Guy did leave me a voicemail. I blocked his number soon after leaving but voicemail came through.

Said he "really appreciated me coming down and thinking they were thieves or something" Looking at it from my standpoint what else could I think?

Funny he brings up the point of "thieves" probably cause they were.

Funny how he brought up the "theives" comment....that seems awfully strange if it wasn't something yall had previously discussed.

That was a very strange comment too. You just dont trust people these days. I cant believe people like that have the nerve to ask complete strangers like me to haul them to a store. He said store was about 4 miles away but to my knowledge there is not one in 10 miles. I know little bit about that area from traveling thru on occasion.

He honestly thought I was coming back. I hated making up a quick lie but I felt desperate to get out of there without ariseing any suspision. The guy may have been ok. I cant really say. Anyway I have to look out for me and the wifes safety first not some strangers feelings.

The people that always surprise me are the ones that ask you to walk through their house to get out to their garage.

I've had a couple of ladies do this when I went to either look at a bike or a car before.

I'm thinking....these people are crazy. There's no way I'd let a total stranger walk through my house no matter how nice they looked. They could totally just case the joint and make plans to come back later.

I had a weird guy ask to use our restroom once when he came to look at a bike and I told him sorry, not gonna happen...ha ha!

I have had 2 people ask to use the bathroom. They pass by stores etc 5 minutes before. One guy told me his wife was on her period and thats the reason. Some people.

This joker didnt even have a car. Not sure they even had electricity judgeing by thier so called "house" May have been squatting and selling off junk somebody else left behind. Like I said. Too busy leavin to care.

With the history of murders linked to deals brought on by certain websites I think you made the wise decision.

The deliverance gif Kingfish posted reminds me of where I lived in western NC, there literally were backwoods areas where you'd hear banjos playing and you knew it was time to turn around. But with all the meth,shine,and MJ in that area, it was sketchy anyway.

I told my wife before we went the guy sounded like trailer park material but thats pretty common here in these small southern towns and I deal with that a lot with no issues. She sees the good in people where I do not. She also believes we should not have left abruptly and things may have turned out differently and got the bikes. Let him keep his junk. I am back home safe and sound and that is all that matters.

I find it ironic his voicemail mentions the word "thieves". Where did that come from?? Hmmm.

I try to check out c/l phone numbers or names on the net before contact.
Always use c/l "blind" email for first contact if possible. One time was selling a horse on c/l and a search of a potential buyer revealed multiple news articles that her husband had been prosecuted for animal abuse... I'm glad they never got my phone number or came to our place.
