I always do a Google Earth search too so I can see the house I am going to and other street views. In this case you could not see the house because no street view was available. You cannot see my own home from street view.

Never had any luck googleing someones name or phone number.

Maybe folks are lured into a false sense of security by the internet. Pre internet you dealt mainly with neighbors and people you knew. Reputation, word of mouth and law enforcement were there as backup.
The net now allows us to converse, like we are sitting around in Rat Rods garage enjoying our favorite beverage, and it's a blast messin' with bikes and helping each other sharing info and ideas. Conversations and images over the net help us to meet others we would never know half a world away! Feedback and paypal develop trust among strangers for their mutual benefit, awesome!

But it also is a wild west - and there are news articles detailing desperados robbing and killing the unaware!
Use caution in c/l dealings with strangers, try to check the other party out online, meet in a public place, ect. If your "Gut" tells you it's not right - follow your instincts.
