Bandit Klunker

Well I got the Bandit pretty well wrapped up found a nice BMX stem to go with my handlebars the bar pad was a little wider but I was able to cut down the foam and kind of roll the edges. Found a layback seatpost and seat and got the Nexus 4 speed tuned in also found my half inch pedals from my Predator build that I didn't use and they look perfect for this found a set of Schwinn cushion grips and cut the right one down about an inch to fit the grip shift for the Nexus 4 speed and took it for a maiden voyage thing rides good and is stupid Fast

Definitely need to have someone hem that crossbar pad. Should be simple and quick on a sewing machine

What a great looking bicycle. Your paint job turned out so well. With aluminum rims and good mechanical condition your speed comes from the tire choice. Jan Heine of Rene Herse Cycles says bicycle speed is most dependent on tire choices. With that great looking chainguard, somewhat like a humpback whale, absolute perfection would be a kickstand. I'm a kickstand user. I love your BMX pads and the layback seat post. Excellent work. I really liked your paint how too. I never thought of standing back 6' to spray but I've had plenty of runny paint jobs. Too bad this good information finally gets to me as I close in on 70 and many runny paint jobs. I was always too impatient and fearful when it comes to painting. I didn't expect to like this bike as much as I do when you started.

Thanks guys. I have been wanting to build a clean Klunker for a while and just didn't know what I wanted to do but as soon as I got my inspiration to base it on the Bandit Trans AM I knew I couldn't make it just good I had to make it spectacular and do the Bandit justice. I'm still waiting on a few more pieces so it's not quite finished but close.

Gearing also plays into it. I don't know if you noticed but that is a Nexus internally geared 4 speed. The hidden gearing makes this bike kinda a sleeper and pays homage to the Trans Am in a way.

I like it, may be a gold seat post clamp and a sprocket like this. would push it over the top.

they made them in 25 and 28. yes they have gone up in price. but pare that with a tall rear sprocket. then it might be doable.

I could always pull a sneaky and do what I did on my trike. Double sprocket and ride the chain on the bigger sprocket and essentially use the front as a spacer. With the chain guard I'm using it would hide it nicely.

that or lace a 9 tooth hub up to the wright size rim. 25 / 9 is the same gear feel as 44 /16 , 28 is closer 45/16 . very cruise-able gear combo.
