Thanks guys! The best is yet to come.

Beautiful bike!

I really like how you highlighted the brazing with the chain and brass bits. 8)

Thanks guys! Sometimes a project just tells you what direction to go with it, this was one of those times. Still a ways to go on this one, but at least it rides.

I'll be updating this as it evolves.

Bit of an update... A new friend of mine had to have it! He is going with the bare metal look with a dash of VW flavour (he is also a amateur pinstriper) and it is cleaning up quite well. I'm helping him with the tear down and rebuild.

Question... What's the fattest tire I can stuff in those deep fenders? I've got 2.35 Fat Franks in my girlfriends Monark and there is PLENTY more room.

That's fat! But like the Hookworm, I'm not wild about the tread. The more I look at it, the more I realize that the fenders are a bit of an illusion in regards to how much tire this thing can swallow up. We're still limited by the chain stays. 3" just might work, are those still about 26 1/2" tall? There is a lot of room to go bigger in diameter, I was in my LBS this morning and noticed the Schwalbe 28x2.35... That would really fill up the fenders, but of course that would involve swapping the rims out...

I just measured, there's only about 2 3/4" between the chain stays where it counts.
