In the Philippines, they are considering using bikes as a mode of transportation for health care workers, since regular transportation is very limited. That makes sense, as there aren't usually close quarters when riding a bike, so that takes care of the problem of packing everyone on a bus to get to work at the hospital or where ever. They are asking for donations of old bikes. An old Huffman would be nice.

A perfect opportunity to let people know how cool old bikes can be. The next shift rolling up on an array of classic bikes: JC Higgins, Roadmasters, Rollfasts, Western Flyers, Columbias, and Schwinns from the 60's and earlier. Like this bike:

All ratted out, no museum bikes. The head nurse might show up on the same kind of bike the wicked witch in The Wizard of Oz rode.

We relied on bikes back in WW2. In fact, you needed special permission to even buy a new bike. The war effort came first.

After it's all said and done, old bikes should be recognized for what they are, useful and cool all the way around. Everyone will want a classic in the garage. Nothing made overseas, the American made 50's and 60's frames will be sought after.

Somehow, all of this happened, AND I DON'T HAVE A MOUNTAIN BIKE! RockRat is in pieces, and I ain't going shopping. Duck Norris will have to be my guy.

I don't have a bike at all right now. Just pictures! I'm moving back to the Philippines and couldn't take any with me because of the cost of shipping. I already had made plans and they were sold before the virus happened. Hopefully the bans will be lifted before my flight in just over a month from now. However all my shelves stay well stocked so I don't need to ride.

Sitting home in lockdown here in Hawaii, I found some more examples.
