Beehive on Ratty Caddy

I finally got my beehive springer welded and put on the tandem. I added 2 helper springs, but it still bottoms out on bigger bumps.

If I could put some stops on the forks, about halfway down, the helper springs would be more efficient. I'm thinking of bolting something on that would hold the springs.

This is kinda hokey I know, but could you get away with just drilling a hole at that spot in the fork and putting a bolt through to hook the spring over?

I actually changed my mind on using the beehive on the tandem The springer has too much flex for a tandem, it felt unstable. So the original forks will be repaired and go back on. I tried a fork from a western flyer and it had a lot of flex too.

The beehive is in reserve for the next annual build off.

How much more work could I have gotten done if I didn't have to come back over here to reply?
