I have a Columbia RX-5 and love it, but it's difficult to pedal up any incline.
I'd like to replace the single speed hub with a Bendix kickback hub.
My question is: In addition to the standard gear, does the kickback provide a 'higher' or 'lower' gear?
If it's higher, can it be adjusted by changing the rear cog? Is the Bendix rear cog interchangeable with modern cruiser cogs?
I'd like to have a standard and lower gear for pedaling up hills.
Thanks in advance.

Pick a color...Red,Yellow or Blue band.

Google is your friend.(and so are we)

My bad.
Red or blue band 36-hole.
I know the red is 18-tooth and blue is 20-tooth.

Yellow and Red band hubs are regular and under drive, a lower gear for hills. Blue band has an over drive, a higher gear for higher top speed. The sprocket is part of the drive gear, it doesn't interchange with the sprockets off one speed hubs. If you need an even lower gear, it's easier to get a chainwheel that's a less teeth than the one you have.

Thanks for the great answers!
The RX-5 has an 18-tooth cog, so the Red Band is what I'm looking for.
