Of course I dont have a picture yet but I dragged two bikes home this weekend,The only one worth mentioning is some kind of girls bike 26 inch probably 50's era but it has a Bendix hub with a shift arm coming out and a stud for a linkage I just wanted to know if that sounds like a two or three speed and as far as the bike the chainguard says glider on it ?

Bendiix Multispeed Hub has 2 speeds. Uses a handlebar mounted lever to shift between the 2 gears. Diagrams here:

Thank you, I can just picture you wearing a long lab coat climbing this rolling ladder in a circular library just filled with bike archives.  but seriously I appreciate it now all I need is the shifter.

I can help you with the shift lever and the toggle, but I don't have the cable. Some guys have been successful in building their own.

The colored strips around the center on the hub indicates the different hubs, red is single speed,i think blue is two speeds and yellow is 3.
Im not posetive.Google it i may be wrong.

The one he has does not have a yellow red or blue band it has a shifter like a three speed but its a two speed Tony
