I came home from work one day this summer and a friend of mine had left a message on my answering machine that he had seen an old bike at a garage sale. I went to the place and it was still there. I gave the guy his asking price and took home a 1937 Colson Imperial.

A Colson collector said he had been looking for that model for a long time. I knew others were interested in the bike, but I really wasn't that interested in selling it so I put a high price on it and he surprised me by accepting.

1953 Schwinn Starlet in super condition,original tire and tubes holding air-100.00 also nabbed three or four stingrays in super no-need to restore shape for 20.00 each but the starlet takes the cake even if its a girls bike.

as for keepers, I picked up a few late in the year

50's Hawthorne, was dropped off around Thanksgiving.. I was thankful my friend was giving me this for sure .. curb find left for the trash

love that it still has the hanging hub reflectors

and this was given to me the day my father passed. My first tandem.. wanted one for years.. and it's a Huffy to boot. I am a Huffy kid still

and, laugh all you want, my "manned up" Bratz Rod

A lot of very beautiful finds last year, I hope this year I can find a rat trap fork for a good cheap price, a nice mens Murray with a tank actually on it and a Bendix two speed wheel to replace the rear wheel of my Spaceliner Klunker or for my Christine bike.

Found this Tandem at a Thrift shop while visiting family in Albuquerque. PAid $100 for it..thought it was a good deal..then i redid the whole thing. Finished it today...rides sweet.

I went through a bunch of bikes in 2011 but don't really feel like I got any smokin good deals, I always seem to be forced to pay premium for the bikes I get.
I picked up this re-pop Western Flyer for an ok deal,... 3 hours one way to get it, did a bunch of paint and customizing of it,...even though its a re-pop, I really like it alot.

For 2011 I started off the year right with a super clean and straight 46 Monarch built Elgin that I customized this past weekend. Got a good deal on it.

Scored this for $30 1968 sting ray original down the the tires in good shape all the accessories are correct for the year too :mrgreen: .

True barn finds,

1960ish Hiawatha Astro Flite (added headlight from friend on FreakBikes)

'74 (I think, would have to look it upagain) Schwinn Collegiate, loaded with all kinds of original Schwinn accessories

Up until these I was beginning to think "barn finds" were just an urban (rural?) myth!
