Most of the threads seem older, so now that a lot of people have tried a lot of different things, whats the easiest way to remove a coat of house paint and save the original paint? I saw a product called xylol xylene that military monark used. I've never heard of it and its $20, dont know anyone else has used it?

For house paint (and sometimes rattlecan) that is not prepared, I find a good simple green soak takes it right off without damaging factory paint.

I just soak the house paint coated parts in a large tub of simple green and water (heavier on the simple green) for a day or two and the stuff just wipes off with a rag, without harming the factory paint.

If the factory paint was sanded before house paint was smothered on, it either doesn't work or it takes a little more time and it doesn't look as nice afterward (you can tell someone sanded it).

I like this method 'cuz simple green is non toxic/biodegradable  Plus it smells kinda minty.

I used xylol xylene with 0000 steel wool on this bike and thought it turned out great.
