i responded to a "BIKES BIKES BIKES" post on craigslist.
they gave me directions to a place near Douglasville, GA which is about 45 min west of Atlanta.
they gut yards and old houses and its some kind of non-profit.
i wish i would have brought my camera there, it was an awesome place.
they had pulled out about 30+ bikes, all crap mongoose next etc., wally world stuff.
they said we could go diggin in the back though.
mountains of metal.
dumpsters lined up full of metal as well.
i climbed into a dumpster, probly got tetanus.
pulled this out.
a trek 610 frame - reynolds 531. light as a feather....but bent!
i think i can fix it though. what do youguys think?
then i found this gem. nice metal work stool. will keep my ... off the ground when workin on bikes.
has pop in casters. gonna pick up some at lowes.
this is the really amazing, but really sad part.
i was trying to see into this mountain of metal, and saw a long laid back seatpost sticking out.
i climbed up and dug this guy out.
serial # G0985. is it a 1985? its a Schwinn Predator i know that much.
bottom rear triangle is dented. dont think its bent though.
right rear dropout is bent. can bend that back easy.
now on to the fork....dang this thing is toast!
i imagine this guy would have been worth a goos bit of money in good shape.
sakae stem
dyna seat with long laid back post.
Sugino Cro-mo crank - chainring is bent up
so, i think its sad that they just use a backhoe to push this stuff into piles.
i also found a wheel with a JC higgins skiptooth hub on it. looked like a pretzel and i didnt find the bike.
there may have been some amazing stuff buried under there.
so i got all three items for $20. i think i did well.
